In July 2027, Aditi Desai will mark fifty years in dentistry, including fourteen years as the in-house dentist at the BBC's Broadcasting House. For the last fifteen she has worked exclusively in sleep medicine, and she is one of the UK's foremost authorities on dental sleep medicine. She is President of both the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine and the British Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and a past President of the Royal Society of Medicine's Odontology Section. She is also the founder of Global Sleep Solutions.
She works within multidisciplinary sleep teams at HCA Outpatients at The Shard, London Bridge Hospital, the Royal Brompton's Wimpole Street Specialist Care clinic, and BUPA Cromwell Hospital. Her practice covers the full range of sleep-disordered breathing and related dental conditions, including obstructive sleep apnoea, snoring, sleep bruxism and temporomandibular disorders. She focuses in particular on patients who cannot tolerate CPAP, providing evidence-based alternatives such as mandibular advancement devices, myofunctional therapy and targeted pain management.
She teaches on postgraduate sleep medicine programmes at Oxford University and UWE, and her work has appeared in the BMJ, BDJ, Dentistry Magazine and Cureus. She lectures regularly abroad, and a growing number of executives and high-performing professionals come to her directly.
